It can even be used as a shampoo to fight dandruff. It is the laurel bay oil (or bay tree oil) which gives this soap all its capacity to heal those skin problems. Laurel oil being a rare oil, its quantity found in a soap directly influences its price. Aleppo soap is the ancestor of Marseille soap and both are manufactured the same way: cooked in a cauldron.
